Coach Mario Eramo began his playing career at Blinn College (2008-2009), where he was selected as a Texas-New Mexico Junior College All-Star and was named team captain his sophomore season. Eramo transferred to Pennsylvania State University, where he continued a successful baseball career, playing catcher, right field, and designated hitter. His senior year, he was the team captain for the Nittany Lions.
In 2020, the Buccaneers posted a 14-9 record before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. In addition, the Blinn baseball team was named a 2019-20 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year after posting a 3.24 GPA.
Prior to coming to Blinn, Eramo spent five seasons at Frank Phillips College as a volunteer assistant coach (2012-13), an assistant coach (2013-2014), and head coach (2014-17). As an assistant coach, he focused on the offensive side of the game and took part in recruiting.
Eramo also spent time as a coach and trainer at the Legion Transformation Center in West Chester, Pa. (17-18) and the Colorado Cage Rats youth baseball team (2012). In 2012, he coached the Cage Rats, a 16U travel team, to a winning record and the Triple Crown World Series championship in Denver.
While a college baseball player, he coached at the Penn State Baseball Fundamental Camps and the “Fundamentals of Champions” baseball camps in Houston.
Eramo earned his bachelor’s degree in communication arts and sciences at Penn State in 2011. He met his wife, Kate, while attending Penn State. He and Kate reside in Brenham with their four dogs, Bindy, Doug, Sage, and Elmie.
